Fin is an 8-month-old Golden Retriever looking for his forever home. He was lovingly surrendered by a young man who had a full schedule and wanted more for him. Fin is being fostered in Iowa.
Little info on this sweet guy:
- Loves walks (working on walking properly on leash)
- Greets everyone with that Golden grin and love
- Good with other dogs and takes cues well
- He has met children ages 6 to 10 years old
- Has had basic puppy training and needs to continue training. We are continuing to work on stay and leave it.
- Cats unknown
- Wants to be a lap dog (loves to cuddle)
- Crated when foster leaves and at night, goes in willingly
- Stuffies do not want to be his friend (he tends to tear them up)
- Loves his ball and chew toys
- Up-to-date on vaccinations
- House trained – will go to the front door/gate and paw at the gate or sit and look at you
- He weighs 57.6 lbs, and the veterinarian felt he would be between 65-80 lbs.
- He is not neutered due to his age. It will be written in his adoption contract that he will need to be neutered around the age of 1.
If you are looking for a very sweet boy, Fin could be your man. He is a Field Golden, so he is energetic but calms down, seems to like birds, and would love to chase them (we have not seen a rabbit or squirrel on walks). We feel he would enjoy some sort of activity like agility. His coat is shorter, and his build is that of a Field Golden (slimmer frame).
His forever home requirements:
- Someone who has the time for a young dog and is willing to take him with them on their adventures, and is home more than not. He loves getting out and about. He has been to Farm & Fleet, another foster home to play with friends, a pet store, and of course the vet clinic. Everyone fell in love with him wherever we went.
- He probably would love another playful dog in the home, but it is not required if his adopter will be active with him (who wants to sit home all the time?)
- Children need to be older and understand that leaving their toys or clothes out could be very dangerous. After all, he is still a puppy, so he likes to see what everything is and put it in his mouth.
- A physical fence (no invisible fence)
