Adoption Update

Back in December I learned of a puppy dog needing to come into the rescue. She was 4, a puppy mom and had been living outside. Being cold in Iowa, I absolutely threw my name out there and said I would love to be a foster for Miss Bailey.  Bailey had just had puppies so it was on hold.  Fast forward through the holidays I had kind of forgot until I got the email she was ready the next day for pick up. I made some adjustments picked up Bailey from the SO on the 17th of January.

This Golden Retriever  who had not been an inside dog was beyond amazing. No accidents, hasn’t chewed up anything, walked on a leash well, when you stop walking out in public she stopped and waited and did great with cats and kids everything you look for in a fur baby . She even lets Leighton walk her, which none of the other resident dogs ever have.

Time went on and she was developing characteristics of Salty. She mimics many of the things that Salty did, mind you Jericho and Sadie Sue don’t and they have been around Salty a lot longer.  February 19th when Salty passed away and Bailey became an entirely different dog yet. She would put her paws up on my shoulders and lay her head down on my chest and in the saddest moments she knew and would seek me out, laying her head on my lap and has pretty much become inseparable going anywhere I go. I feel Salty knew what was coming and let Bailey know exactly what she needed to do.

I had always said that if something ever happened we would become a two dog family and continue to foster but there was no way could let go of this sweet soul. So…. When you don’t know any different than three puppies since 2022, nothing changes.

Welcome to the family Miss Bailey Bae. Salty can never be replaced but miss Bailey has helped to fill a piece of that void.

Thank you to Golden Retriever Rescue of Iowa – GRRoIowa for always being amazing and giving me time and exactly what I needed when I needed it 🙂
