9/3/25-Foster Update:

After having Poe and Roger in foster care for a few weeks, it has been determined that they are not bonded and can be adopted separately.

Poe is a 2-year-old Pyrenees Doodle and weighs 68 pounds.

She had her very first day of doggie daycare and did wonderfully! She was friendly with everyone and brought so much positive energy to group play. At home, she’s a total cuddle bug and loves sleeping right between us at night—thankfully, we have a king bed, because she likes to stretch out! She’s also doing great with house training. A few weeks ago, we discovered she had a UTI, but that has since cleared up, and she’s doing much better. While there have been occasional accidents in the house, they’re becoming more and more rare. She loves being by our side and is always ready to show off her big, happy stretches. With her affectionate personality, playful spirit, and eagerness to be close, she’s going to make a wonderful companion for a lucky family.

Roger is a 1.5-year-old black Goldendoodle weighing 54 pounds.

He had his very first visit to doggie daycare and did wonderfully! The staff said he was full of energy, very friendly, and especially enjoyed playing with an Old English Sheepdog named Ozzy. He still barks at large vehicles and other dogs, but we are continuing to work on his manners and practicing redirection when those triggers come up. He’s also doing a great job with house training. When Poe had a UTI a few weeks ago, he mimicked her behavior of going inside, but since her UTI cleared, both of them have been much better. He’s becoming more affectionate every day and loves to rest his head on your arm or leg while being petted. One of his favorite spots is our big chair by the window, where he can lounge comfortably and watch the world outside.. With his sweet nature, playful energy, and growing affection, he’s sure to be a wonderful addition to the right family.

Forever Home Requirements:
*Children: Currently live with loud and active 8 and 10-year-old boys and do very well with all neighborhood children who visit. Families should be aware that Poe and Roger do run hard when they get the zoomies and could inadvertently knock over a kiddo.
*Dogs: Roger and Poe are attending daycare and do well with other dogs in this setting. Preference is to be an only dog in the home to lap up all the attention!
*Cats: Unknown
*Physical fence required. Both stay within our 4-foot-tall fence. They love having the space to run with each other in the yard. Home: They would not be suited for an apartment as they do have a loud bark.

Complete your adoption application if you would like to welcome these two into your home!

7/22/25-

Meet Poe and Roger!  These two loving doodles are ready to bring laughter and lots of cuddles into your life! They came into rescue due to their owner’s busy lifestyle and are in a foster home in Central Iowa.  They are a bonded pair and will be adopted together.

Poe is a 2-year-old Pyrenees Doodle who is very tall and weighs 68 pounds. She has a sweet personality, loves snuggles, and big stretches. She’ll happily plop right on your lap to get love.

Roger is a 1.5-year-old black Goldendoodle weighing 54 pounds. He’s a sensitive sweetheart with a goofy side. He adores car rides (and might try to “eat” a few cars that pass by).

Both dogs are incredibly gentle with kids, despite their larger size. They’re crate trained, sleep in their crates at night, and when home alone, and know basic commands such as sit and come. They love running in the yard and playing together. Poe especially loves rolling around in the grass. Neither dog has chewed anything in our house and show no signs of resource guarding.

They’re still working on being fully house trained and do best with regular potty breaks.  Poe & Roger are also working through their reactivity to other dogs and large trucks, but they’re making progress.  On walks, Roger especially gets excited and pulls, but Gentle Leaders have helped a lot.
